Dutch team wins World Solar Challenge for fourth straight year!
When it comes to building solar-powered race cars, the team from Delft University in the Netherlands seems to have the process nailed. Their latest sun runner, the Nuna4, captured the World Solar Challenge in Australia for the fourth year in a row. This year's car is all new to conform to modified regulations that require a more upright seating position for the driver and twenty-five percent less solar panel area. They finished the last 760 km stretch of the 3,000 km race in just eight hours. The Nuna4 required a cumulative total of 33 hours and 17 minutes at an average speed of 92.07 km/h to go the distance. Their previous record was 29 hours 11 minutes before the rules change.
