Porsche will have a hybrid version of their new Panamera coming some time later in 2009 or 2010 but so far from the spy photos most people aren't too excited about the styling. For those in the market for big buck, curvy hybrid, Henrick Fisker is coming to the rescue. We recently saw a sketch of the new Fisker hybrid and now a proper photo has turned up and it looks very promising. Fisker is teaming up with Quantum Technologies to build this car with a new plug-in hybrid drivetrain. We'll be seeing this car in the flesh at the Detroit Auto Show in January.

I dont see the word "concept" anywhere, so will this actually be the final product (minus some very minor changes)

Countdown to unveiling, 73 days. Full website coming soon.
Just for grins, I downloaded the order form. Premium orders are for cars 001 - 009, at $100,000, $5000 down, expected 4rth quarter, 2009.
Pre-orders are cars 100-7500, estimated MSRP $80,000, final MSRP is TBD. $1000 down, deliveries estimated to start 4rth quarter, 2009.
One thing stuck me as rather insane: once delivered to the dealer, the customer has only 48 hours to finalize paperwork, or they give it up to the next customer! What if you're on vacation, or even away for a three day weekend?
I guess they expect "your people" to handle the mundane paperwork details.

Beautiful car, but I need to see this thing run. Fisker is promising an awful lot for an 80K price. This undercuts the Lexus 600H by a large margin.

I think this is a great thing. I just remember Yoko Ono's quote about wanting a luxury hybrid. Some people want the hybrid, but when you're making six or seven figures a year. It's hard to justify riding around in a prius. You just want something....better. I think this will be a big hit with the hollywood crowd.

Brian: I work in Beverly Hills and I see people who make 6 or 7 figures a year drive Priuses, quite literally, every day. And sure, I do see plenty of Lexus Hybrids around here -- but there's a lot of people who buy the Prius because it happens to be the most efficient vehicle they can get their hands on. If Toyota or someone else made another more efficient vehicle, then they'd buy it instead. It's not always about having the $$$, sometimes it's about having the car with the best possible mileage. I'd have a Prius myself, if I didn't have the Hybrid Civic.
And yes, I am tempted to buy a Tesla. And yes, I'm going to take a hard look at the Fisker. But if the new Honda CR-Z or the Toyota FT-HS comes out and gets decent gas mileage, or better mileage than the Fisker, for example, then that's what I'll get.
