Detroit 2008 Preview: Chrysler ecoVoyager Concept

As usual, Chrysler is bringing a trio of fresh concept vehicles to the Detroit Auto Show in January, and following in the footsteps of the recent shows in Frankfurt, Tokyo and Los Angeles it looks like the theme will be alternative power-trains. The Auburn Hills company has just released some preview sketches of the new concepts for 2008. For the Chrysler-branded vehicle, they have taken some themes from this year's Nassau concept translated to a one box design. The ecoVoyager is about the same overall size as the new Honda FCX Clarity but with a six inch longer wheelbase. The Honda comparison is relevant since the ecoVoyager is also powered by a fuel cell and a lithium ion battery pack. Unlike the Honda, Chrysler is following Ford's HySeries lead and using the fuel cell as a range extender for the battery.

2008 Chrysler ecoVoyager Concept
The 2008 Chrysler ecoVoyager Concept celebrates the romance of automobile travel embodied in a four-door, four-passenger distinctively American design. Designed for customers seeking elegance, simplicity and serenity, the elegant one-box design takes advantage of space normally occupied by a conventional powertrain setup. The 2008 Chrysler ecoVoyager features an advanced lithium-ion battery pack, along with a small, advanced hydrogen fuel cell that serves as a range extender. The result is a vehicle with a total range of more than 300 miles that emits no emissions from the tailpipe except water vapor.
