Ferrari probably won't make a hybrid or electric car

Here is the general manager of the Ferrari importer European Automotive Imports Kevin Wall's response to the question would Ferrari ever make a hybrid or electric car:
I believe there is no possibility of that whatsoever. ... It just so happens that the way that the vehicles are being produced by the factory also makes them technically green, because they are so highly efficient. ... I don't think that's a prime motivator for people to purchase a Ferrari, though.
Ferrari has shown green concepts and Ferrari is aware of the "ethical" concerns of their buyers but I would not hold my breath for a hybrid Ferrari or Lamborghini, another Italian luxury car maker, because they are not coming anytime soon. While you wait, you could get a Tesla.

If you want a real driving machine thats green, buy porsche.
The Gt2 gets 22.6mpg on the NEDC and has a 0-100km of 3.7. and cO2 emissions of 298 g/km.
360 g/km is in no ways an achievement. Check out other cars/supercars cO2 emissions here http://www.carpages.co.uk/co2/co2-coupe-226-to-999-2.asp

Ethical shmethical. . . From where I sit, the Tesla simply looks like a better sports car. It looks like more fun than a Ferrari.

Ferrari will have a public debut of their first hybrid car sometime in late 2008 or early 2009.
This is because 2009 is the year that Formula 1 will begin allowing energy recovery systems, and with engine development frozen by the FIA, the only way to get more power is via hybridization.
Will such a system ever be included in customer cars is of course a different matter. Never is an awfully long time...

Ferrari should never make an electric car, their fans won't buy them. A Hybird may be palatable.

Ferrari's vision often exceeds their customer's immediate expectations. That's why they are where they are today.
Following their F1 ethos, it would be only natural for Ferrari to employ all means possible to make their cars faster, lighter, more efficient, and, most of all, a more profound driving experience.

Sorry Andrew but 298g/km can't in any way be described as "green". Less polluting than many other sports cars, yes, but it's emissions are more than 3 times those of the lowest carbon car available on the market.
I don't see how Ferrari will be able to continue manufacturing under the proposed European regulations without going electric and I also don't see why many of their customers wouldn't buy an electric Ferrari. It wouldn't have the V12 sound but I'm sure the poor little dears would survive somehow without it.
If they could get an electric Ferrari running at 300Wh/mile or less then that would be pretty green.

CEO confirms Ferrari will make a hybrid:
Check this out, an exclusive interview of the German automotive bi-weekly automotorundsport with Amedeo Felisa, MD of Ferrari:

"We will make a hybrid... all new cars have to have ncreased performance, be smaller, lighter, more usable in everyday life and consume less fuel than their precedessors... the way to achieve this [for the Enzo successor] is with a supercharged V8... " now I don't believe they will stop producing V12s, but hybrids are on the menu.
