Win a GMC Yukon hybrid and, oh yeah, a $2 million house too!

If you like the idea of the new GMC Yukon hybrid but can't quite swing a little more than $50,000 to buy one, now you have the the opportunity to get one free of charge (sort of, you will have to pay the taxes on it). The cable channel HGTV is having a contest and giving away a new Yukon hybrid. As if that wasn't good enough they are tossing in a place to park it in the Florida keys. The garage comes with a $2 million house that includes a doggy dream home for your pooch. You will of course have to pay all the taxes on that stuff too which will cost you a lot more than just buying a Yukon. If you feel like taking your chances you can enter at the HGTV web site.

Hmmm, taxes on a package like that would come to what, about $800,000.
That could pretty much wreck the person who wins if he/she doesn't know what he's getting into. I suspect the winner will have to sell the house to pay the taxis on the prize.

After which they'd still be $1,250,000 ahead, right?

Oh I'm not saying I'd mind winning, I just think it's worth pointing out that unless you have $.8M on hand you probably won't get to keep the house.
(an to pick nits... the $1.25M you mention assumes that you can sell it for the advertised price in today's market, and neglects the 5% ($100,000) fee that the real-estate agents charge for the 20 hours of work they'll do in selling the house).

"the Florida keys?"
Property Insurance rates went up 5-fold in Florida because climate disruption will hit them hard...this house is probably in a neighbourhood of full unsaleable houses
