Holy extensive gallery BAT(man)! Toyota's A-BAT fully revealed

We've seen the first batch of pictures with the preview, the video and now we can go on A-Bat overload. Toyota has just released a slew of pictures of the A-Bat hybrid truck concept that will be on the stand at the Detroit Auto Show in the very near future. The bed of the unique-looking A-Bat can be extended from four to eight feet, but the part we like is the Hybrid Synergy Drive with a four-cylinder gas engine. We'll know more about the powertrain when we get to Detroit. For now, these 59 images should keep you busy. My faves are the bikes in the bed and the non-circular steering wheel. Take a look.

Sell it for somewhere in the mid 20's and give me in the mid 40 MPGs and I'll stop at the dealer today to order one.

I am a minimalist freak and even I would momentarily consider one with Gary's specks.

Oh, and I wonder how long till the flashlight in the tailgate is stolen if that is where it is placed in the real world. :)

What would be really awesome is plug in version of this truck like the plug-in Priuses that Calcars has converted. If Toyota could build a plug-in pickup that got 80 mpg I think people would probably be willing to pay even as much as $30,000. With gas prices going the way they are I bet pretty soon it will be up to $5 a gallon. An 80 mpg vehicle would also help Toyota meet the new CAFE requirements. Hope Toyota is reading this blog. What would be really awesome is if Toyota and Apple teamed up to create the interior. Oh, by the way Toyota built an EV version of the RAV4 that went 100 miles per charge on the freeway, so I don't think it would be all that hard for them to build a plug-in pickup.
