Need some good news about ethanol? EPIC's got you covered
As I wrote yesterday, even people in Kansas have a hard time supporting corn ethanol. Still, the Ethanol Promotion and Information Council (EPIC) has never let problems with the biofuel's negative impact get in the way of talking it up at every chance. Now, that good news is going to go into overdrive with EPIC's Good News Network. According to Domestic Fuel, the GNN is a "new e-newsletter to spread the good press that ethanol is getting." I can't tell exactly how often the emails will go out, as Domestic Fuel says it's both biweekly (which means every two weeks) and "published Monday and Friday afternoons" (which implies twice a week, or semiweekly). Still, I'm pretty sure we can guess what the newsletter will contain when it does come, can't we?[Source: EPIC via Domestic Fuel]

i see the conflict, it's only worsened by the double meaning of yet another word in our confused language, "biwekly" which merriam webster credits as:
Main Entry: 1bi·week·ly
Pronunciation: \(ˌ)bī-ˈwē-klē\
Function: adjective
Date: 1832
1 : occurring twice a week
2 : occurring every two weeks
and, to further challenge ESL students:
Main Entry: 1bi·month·ly
Pronunciation: \(ˌ)bī-ˈmən(t)th-lē\
Function: adjective
Date: 1845
1 : occurring every two months
2 : occurring twice a month

Ethanol is *at best* a mediocre fuel.
Corn is a lousy feedstock.
No amount of Politically-Correct "good news" can change either of those facts.

So, how are they funded?

At least we can always rely on Sebastian for a solid, one sided, anti-ethanol view.

I have to say I love the blatant, even celebrated bias of the organization. They first name themselves according to their function 'Ethanol Promotion', and then basically admit to only give one side of the story in their 'Good News Network'. What about the bad news? I suppose nobody who subscribes to that newsletter wants to hear it.

Yes, it will be filled with lies, damned lies and statistics.

Let them have their fun. . .
Corn likker juice is a stop-gap fuel that will fade out when the collective bulb lights up and suddenly everyone will want electric rather than ICE motors in their ride.
The awakening could come soon if Iran*s speedboats mix it up with our Navy in the Straits of Hormuz.
Gas in coastal BC Canada is $1.06 a litre. That comes to about $4.24 a gallon. Your gas price forecast is $3.50 a gallon and that*s without a big popping sound somewhere in the middle east. = TG
