Detroit 2008: Lincoln MKT concept live reveal

Click the MKT for a hgh-res gallery from the reveal

At the Detroit Auto Show this morning, Lincoln took the wraps off its new MKT luxury crossover. Unlike the popular but relatively blandly styled MKX, the new MKT has a much bolder look. It takes all the styling cues from last year's MKR and applies them to a four-seat CUV. The all wheel drive MKT is based on the architecture of the upcoming Ford Flex which allows for enormous amounts of space for the four occupants. Under the hood, the MKT shows the first E85-optimized variant of the new 3.5L EcoBoost V-6 that will debut in the MKS sedan. With higher compression and boost levels than the MKS variant, this one produces 415hp and 400lb-ft of torque. Ford has said it will make all the EcoBoost engines flex-fuel capable, although it's unlikely that most of them will be optimized in this way. On the outside, the body work is made from reconstituted plastics from old pop bottles produced by Sabic Innovative Plastics. The same company made the materials used for the body of the Chevy Volt last year.
