Josh Tickell's Fields of Fuel documentary screening at Sundance on Monday

My how time flies. Back in December 2006, AutoblogGreen sat down with Josh Tickell, the author of Biodiesel America: How to Achieve Energy Security, Free America from Middle-East Oil Dependence and Money Growing Fuel and the driver of the Veggie Van. Back then, he talked about filming a cross-country biodiesel education trip in the van. That movie - called Fields of Fuel - is now finished and will be shown at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival. The world premiers screening is co-sponsored by Nova Biosource Fuels and will take place on Monday (the 21st). If you can't make it to the show, you can watch our own 2006 video interview with Tickell here. It's not feature-length, but it should give you an idea of where Fields of Fuel is coming from.

I saw "Fields of Fuel" at Sundance and it was my favorite film of the festival. When my sister said she got us tickets to a documentary about alternative fuels, I thought "Snore"--but I was totally wrong. It was informative, engaging, and entertaining. I just hope Tickell can get a great distribution deal to get this important film out to the public.

I saw this film on 10/12/2008 in Los Angeles at its premier and its newest incarnation now called "Fuel". I went reluctantly as I find most political documentaries with their heart in the right places, usually overly preachy, fear mongering, and in the end just kind of unenjoyable. "Fuel" turns out to be far from none of these. Although some the ideas were somber, you leave this film inspired, touched and full of hope. Not only that, the film really empowers the viewer by its message - serious. Its a little on the liberal side, but not too much so. Overall, for anybody who puts gas in their car, this really is a film to see. And even if you disagree with its message, its presented in a entertaining and intelligent way that will at least open conversations about the subject. I highly recommend it.
