Power of h, Lexus hybrid's new TV ads, don't mention features of hybrids

I was watching Lost on ABC last night and caught a TV commercial for the Power of h, Lexus hybrid's new ad campaign. The spot actually had nothing to do with hybrids, it (you can watch it for yourself below) was all about missing letters of h, somehow gone from key boards, news papers, etc. The only way you would know it was a commercial about hybrids, cars even, was the last few seconds of the commercial: the letter h has found a better place in the Lexus hybrid moniker. Call me crazy but why not mention hybrids get good fuel economy or something informative? Oh, right.

I guess they already assume that most people already know about hybrids (and maybe they don't want to advertise the MPG since they aren't that great).
Really, these ads aren't that different from the big SUV GM ads that tell you you can now keep buying huge shopping utility vehicles and don't have to feel as bad about it anymore.

Most Americans and Europeans don't buy vehicles based on logic. They are taught what to want, much like the tobacco companies did/do. Toyota knows where the future is, has invested in it, and now is starting to sell "h" the way most will respond. I am sorry it isn't an American company leading the way. We use to.

Quite frankly, I think the assumption is anyone that can afford a Lexus hybrid doesn't need to be told the benefits of hybrids any longer.
Personally, I think it's great they've moved passed education and are targeting a product to an audience they beleive is already in the consumer acceptance phase.

Obviously, this isn't meant for the truly environmentally conscious crowd. This is for the people who see a hybrid electric motor as a way to increase the 'power' of a standard engine. Behold the POWER of h. Who cares if you only get 30 mpg! Someone just give me a frikin Diesel!
