Mowing your grass with a hybrid lawn mower
Hybrids seem to be everywhere these days, appearing on nearly every car lot in the United States and in most every car manufacturers product pipeline too (seem being an operative word, here). Still, hybrids are becoming so popular that even lawn-mowers are getting in on the action. Take a look at these mowers from Evatech, which range in capabilities from residential use all the way up to large-scale commercial applications. Not only are the mowers powered by the gas engine, electric motor or a combination of both, they are also radio controlled. The gasoline-powered engine is also used to recharge the batteries. Soon, they will even have a version with tracks for those extra-tough lawns. Relax while you are saving the environment from harmful emissions! Honestly, we'd prefer this mower if the entire system were electric, completely removing the need for gasoline and oil, but a hybrid is better than nothing. Take a good look at our gallery below.

How about a BLT(Battery Lawn Tractor)? Or a conversion kit? Use Firefly Batteries for more energy density and lighter weight. It's time!

Fifteen years ago I was mowing the lawn with a Black & Decker plug-in electric mower. Sounded like a ceiling fan but cut just as well as a gas model while being much lighter. It took a hundred feet of extension cord and some forethought to mow a 1/4 acre lot without unplugging, but I only ran over the cord once in four years.

ummm, just why is a hybrid lawnmower better than a gas only one? The whole point of hybrids is to save gas by capturing energy that would otherwise be wasted during breaking and by using the battery to level out the spikes needed for acceleration. My gas lawn mower gets set at one speed and it either goes or doesn't go depending on the clutch position. It don't got no brakes. On the other hand, my manual push reel mower is totally off grid and off oil. Might say its on the original biofuel. cheers

I used to have a small lawn in my backyard, and I had an electric mower to cut the lawn. Now I have a backyard covered with rocks, so I do not need a lawn mower. At some point I am going to cover myself with rocks and have a head stone on top of the rocks in the shape of an extended middle finger. Just my way of saying thank you to all of the blithering idiots who have created this global warming mess.

Mark: I'm glad somebody here is actually thinking a little about the headlines.
Say it with me people: Constant load application -> direct drive ICE.

I had a push mower until it rusted up, then got a plug-in one (with 50' of cord) about 5 years ago and it still works great! This is clearly a stunt to sell something just because it says "Hybrid," also for those with more money than brains.

I have re-designed the backpack blower and it is unlike anything currently on the market.I need to find a engine supplier to purchase from for my power source.I need a 2 stroke or 4 stroke that is
65cc-80cc equal to a 4hp engine that weighs less than 11 lbs.I am currently using for my proto-type
the Shindaiwa 8510 79cc (4 hp)4 stroke it weighs 10.5 lbs. I have approached current blower companys for a engine source and they have closed the door repeatedly in a polite way.
I was hoping with your vast contacts and knowledge base that you could hook me up or direct me to a small engine source that can supply my Apparatus with a power source.I would like to look into purchasing at the start 1000-5000 engines.
God Bless and Thanks

Battery operated robotic lawnmowers are becoming quite popular. http://www.bamabots.com has Robomower and LawnBott reviews.
They have been around since 2001 without any reported emergency room visits.
The LawnBott Spyder http://www.bamabots.com/lawnbott-lb1200-review.htm does not even need a perimter wire. It can tell the difference between grass and mulch, concrete, etc.

Why even go Hybrid you can just go full electric with a Lawnbott. Costs less than 10 dollars a year in electricity according to Georgia Power. You just lay down a simple wire as a boundary and you are pretty much good to go, costs about as much as decent riding lawn mower. Even the most expensive unit costs less than a zero turn designed for an acre yard.
