Tesla's financier in chief talks about driving Roadster #1 daily

Tesla Motors' Chairman and chief fundraiser Elon Musk took delivery of the first production Roadster on February 1 and he's been driving it on a daily basis every since. He just put up a post on the Tesla company blog about his experiences so far. In general he loves his new toy, with its awesome acceleration and handling. However, it's not quite perfect. The single piece seats are devoid of adjustments other than fore-aft. If they fit your body, they're great, but if not, you're out of luck, for now. Musk has already set the engineering staff to work on re-working the seats. Once a new design is ready and validated, Tesla will offer them to owners as a free upgrade. Meanwhile, a further extra cost option will be seats custom tailored to the owner.

"Musk has already set the engineering staff to work on re-working the seats"
He had to drive it everyday to know how terrible the seats were??????? Tell me this is a joke? Did he sit in a prototype? No wonder Telsa is in trouble getting the product out and working well. Trannys don't work seats don't work. But they will gladly get you new ones once they figure it out.

@Dad
The seats are basically the same as any Lotus's. Where did he say it was terrible? He just said it's not comfortable enough and needs some improvement. It's a small issue overall, and in most cars it would be ignored (I mean Lotus didn't bother to change their's). It's just he's the Chairman and what he says goes, since he put most of the money into the company.
Not anywhere close to the transmission issue, don't exaggerate it, Dad.

I am pretty impressed. At least they are just biting the bullet and bringing it to market. Look at how long it takes any major manufacturer to take a car from concept to dealership! It's the "software" approach by releasing the beta for testing. It undergoes real-world development and improvements that allow the final version to be that much better. I think it's a smart move, and they are really open about there development progress on their blogs which I think is fantastic. They are doing a great job and I can't wait to see Tesla Roadsters everywhere.
