A little over a month ago, we tracked a Ford Escort on eBay which had been converted to electric power. That car was a two-door and failed to reach its reserve price. Today, we'd like to share with our readers another electric Escort, this time a four-door wagon. There is no reserve on this one and it's going for less than $2,000 as this is written. Using 18 6 volt sealed lead acid batteries, the seller claims he's had the car as fast as 75 miles per hour. He says he gets 15-20 miles or so on a charge of his current batteries. At one point, solar panels were mounted on the car, but they've been removed by a previous owner. For those of you in the market, this could be a potential low-cost electric car for running short daily errands, be be sure to check it out.

Buyer beware. This car is going to need a lot of electrical work. Has burned up fuse holder all of the terminal strips need to be replaced due to corrosion. Much of the wiring has poor layout, just hanging wherever it is. The S.L.I. battery isn't even bolted down. Plus defects listed on auction.
