eBay find of the day: Ford Escort wagon converted to electric

Click on the image for more pictures of the electric Escort

A little over a month ago, we tracked a Ford Escort on eBay which had been converted to electric power. That car was a two-door and failed to reach its reserve price. Today, we'd like to share with our readers another electric Escort, this time a four-door wagon. There is no reserve on this one and it's going for less than $2,000 as this is written. Using 18 6 volt sealed lead acid batteries, the seller claims he's had the car as fast as 75 miles per hour. He says he gets 15-20 miles or so on a charge of his current batteries. At one point, solar panels were mounted on the car, but they've been removed by a previous owner. For those of you in the market, this could be a potential low-cost electric car for running short daily errands, be be sure to check it out.
