VIDEO: Saab designers discuss the aerodynamics of the 9-X BioHybrid
When Saab debuted the 9-X BioHybrid concept at the recent Geneva Motor Show, aerodynamics was a big part of the equation. The compact 9-X has a smooth, rounded nose, a raked back wrap-around windshield and a downward sloping roof. To help reduce the drag at the back end of the short body, a spoiler that wraps around the roof extends backward up to four inches. A new video featuring some of the designers talking about the aero work that they did has just been posted on the GMnext web site. You can check out the video after the jump.

I have a strong feeling the Production Volt will take a lot of styling points from it.

any idea how heavy this car will be? with 200hp it should be pretty quick unless it's overweight

Is this car ready for the roads yet? Or do we have to wait a while before we actually see it on the road? Great concept and good looking car even if it is a little unusual because of its aerodynamic styling i suppose.

Is it just me, or did I just listen to a 5 minute talk "about the aerodynamics" of this car, yet not once hear a value given for the cD?
Ok, we did learn that the adjustable spoiler reduces drag 10% (which is only the case above a certain speed, but did they mention that? No. Nor did they say that it reduces from X to X')
It wasn't a discussion of aerodynamics, it was a discussion of styling. Don't be confused by the marketing people.
I'm not saying I don't like the car, the look, the styling, or even that the aerodynamics are bad, I just don't like being told how 'aerodynamics' evokes emotion or references company history.
