Inquiring minds at Toyota want to know: how are gas prices affecting you?
How are gas prices affecting you personally? If you drive an SUV every day, your fuel bill is surely putting a crimp in your pocketbook. Even if you drive a vehicle which gets high fuel mileage, we imagine that you're still quite cognizant of your driving habits. Do you carpool to work or when dropping your kids off at school? Do you walk or ride your bike to places that you used to drive to? These questions are important, both to your fellow readers and to car manufacturers. To prove that point, Jon F. Thompson from Toyota's Corporate Communications has posted a new entry on Toyota's Open Road Blog, asking readers to comment on what changes they've personally made, if any. Perusing the comments, it's easy to see that fuel prices are causing drivers, no matter how efficient their vehicle is, to change their habits. If you've ever wanted to talk to somebody at a major car company about its fuel efficient options, here's your chance to do it.

There is no doubt that fuel prices affect all of us, and that effect will get more, not less drastic. We all need to think of green, renewable, sustainable energy and need to shift to more environmentally favorable modes of transport. Companies such as ZAP (http://www.zapworld.com) give us quite a few options to make substantial changes in our lives which will help us achieve such goals.

I'd be stupid to say that they don't affect me (due to the trickle-down effect of increased manufacturing and transportation costs), but I truely haven't felt a direct impact of the price increases since I have been biking to work (every day!) for the past 6 months. I feel bad for the line of people I see each day at the gas station; these people are enslaved by a simple liquid, incapable of performing normal human functions like going to work or getting groceries without their almighty petrol. The one ray of sunshine is that the higher prices and warmer weather have brought out an incredible number of other cyclists that weren't around in the colder months. Maybe a cultural change is being forced on us?

I don't care one whit about fuel prices, I don't drive much anyway. I conserve because of the Earth. I hate the war too, so let's have some decent alternatives to funding the fascist oil companies.

Whoa, reading the first three comments leads me to believe many of us are choosing to live in an alternate reality free of oil and all that it is used for. Weird is all I can say. The world is swimming in oil, and it is the cheapest and most efficient source of energy we have today and for many days and years to come. I don't understand the urge to throw away a perfected source of energy before it makes economic sense to do so. What we have in the U.S. is an energy crisis that is politically motivated and is being sustained because our elected officials are mostly cowards in the face of environmental wacko-ism. Couple this desire to eliminate oil with the "Global Warming being caused by humans" hysteria, and we have a recipe for social unrest on a vast scale.

Mr. Snerdley...it also makes perfect economic sense to eat McDonald's 3 times a day, every day for the rest of your life...so go and ahead and do it since it's the economic thing to do.
Sometimes humans need to see things beyond economics if they want to survive and thrive and develop. Obviously, we're not going to with people with this mentality at the helm.
It's just amazing how stupid people's mentalities are...you want clean air? You're a wacko. You want clean water, you're a wacko, you want clean lifestyles where pollution is reduced, you're a wacko. You want war? Oh that's OK...we're going after a resource that is plentiful and will last another 1000 years.
You people are fucking nuts...anything other revelations you crackpots and war mongerers want to push on us from the bible? The only hysteria caused by anyone is by yourselves...you people honestly can't see the benefits of moving forward as a species.

Real men don't care about clean air. Real men don't care about pollution. Real men drive tough cars and trucks. Real men would never be seen riding a bike to work. Real men also drink beer instead of wine, but not that fancy-pants microbrew crap. And, we eat steak. Lots of it. All the time. But not that organic crap. I ain't eating no vegan steaks.
Oh, and my neighbor bought one of those Smart cars. If he were smart, he'd get out of my way when I'm comin' home so I don't have to squash him with my Ford F-450.

Using your F-450 to run down to the 7/11 for a pack of smokes is kinda dumb because you have no idea of how much money you are tossing away.
Just got two crowns done at the dentist. Last summer crowns were $750. They now cost $1000 each.
I paid the dentist and am going back for one more. I happen to be debt free.
You can bet there is no GM-350 or Ford - 450 helping me to stay solvent. = TG
