VW Sharan BlueMotion already on sale in Germany
The BlueMotion moniker is the denomination that Volkswagen gives to its low CO2-producing models. Such a label might not seem appropriate for a 7-seat minivan, but that didn't stop the Sharan BlueMotion from making its introduction at Geneva in February. Now, the Sharan BlueMotion is on sale in Germany. The BlueMotion designation means CO2 emissions of 159g/km compared to the 177g/km from the regular model. Average fuel consumption of the new van is 6 l/100 km (38mpg U.S.) which is quite impressive for a seven-passenger vehicle of this size. The Sharan is propelled by a 140hp 2.0L TDI engine with a diesel particulate filter at the exhaust. Prices start at €32,200.

Uggghhh: I've long complained that the DCX merger didn't create the one thing I wanted before it imploded: A BlueTec Grand Caravan.
This is pretty close - but it looks like it won't make it to the US. It appears VW would rather put North American-market resources in their upcoming Routan minivan (based on the Chrysler minivan platform). So no diesel minivan for North America from VW anytime soon...

Interesting how VW won't bring their diesel minivan here, and Toyota isn't bring their hybrid minivans.
Now, I can understand why they haven't brought tiny diesels over here, but the US consumers have a pretty strong record of buying minivans (even though most people think they're not cool).

32,000 euro is almost 50,000 dollars , for a few dollars more
you could be riding around in AC propulsion¨s very excellent
X-box and emitting no CO2 at all , now thats a cool ride !

UMMMMM just to as a little statement. Those how are syaing bring it to teh us are wrong . They will make NO money teh styling first off is terrible , if you look at some of teh most popular minivans being the honda odyssey , quest and dodge , that thing looks nothing like any of them . Adding to the fact that what is 140 horsepower going to do driving on the Long island expressway with 4 adults 2 kids a think full of beach stuff and a bike rack climbing a hill. For those very reasons that is one car i will not support in bringing to the us.

It wouldn't be much cheaper even if they did deign to sell it in the U.S.
Those who want such bland styling can get a fully loaded domestic minivan for under the "starting" price of this VW van.
