Pakistani car company buys Canadian NEV-maker Dynasty

The Daily Times of Pakistan reports that the Canadian manufacturer of Neighborhood Electric Vehicles Dynasty Electric Car Corporation has been sold to Pakistani automaker Karakoram Motors. Dynasty General Manager Danny Epp told Canadian Broadcasting that limitations on the use of NEVs on Canadian roads along with the strong Canadian dollar contributed to the decision by the owner to sell the company. Dynasty has been manufacturing thirty to forty vehicles per year. Karakoram Motors assembles and markets light duty trucks in Pakistan.

Neighborhood Electric Vehicles
These are inexpensive electric cars, usually traveling less than 40 miles (65 Km) before needing a recharge, and with a maximum speed between 25 mph (40 Kph) to 40 mph (65 Kph), With limited speed and range, they are good for local use around the neighborhood, they are cheap to buy and very cheap to run, but they are almost useless for long trips!

Since we got completley over taken by carbon fueled car market, I think this is a very smart move to aquire technology to build better NEV's. Maybe some 'bright spark' in Pakistan can further develop these cars to run longer distances and with more power. Currently in the world I think Tesla motors in the US have the best electric cars which is so fast that it can outrun most Ferrari's in acceleration. But low emmision electric cars are defintley the future. Good luck to Karakoram.
