Honda Civic hybrid will be India's first

A Honda Civic hybrid in the UK

Facing an import duty of 114 percent, Honda is ready to release the first hybrid car to the Indian market: the Honda Civic hybrid. Honda has been in discussions with the Indian government to sell the hybrid in the country since last October. The localized price has yet to be finalized, but expect it to be high. Honda Siel Cars, which has been selling premium cars in India for a decade, will be the source for the gas-electric hybrid, and the non-hybrid version sells for Rs 12 lakhs. Currently, the Honda City is the most popular Honda in India. The Civic hybrid - while cleaner than the standard version - doesn't look poised to take that crown any time soon.
