Suzuki shows off SD-01 and SD-02 concepts in Bangkok - with Video

At the 29th Annual Bangkok International Auto Show, which featured an environmentally friendly theme and ended in April, Suzuki showed off two electric scooter concepts which caught our eye. The SD-01 is the more sinister appearing of the two siblings with its web-look seat and manic flashing light display from the LED headlights, which contrasts slightly with the more subdued appearance of the SD-02, though it also features a pretty cool LED headlight show. Both machines are filled with technology, with the SD-02 standing as the techie-version. Featuring a dash-mounted PDA which incorporates wireless technology to sync with a mobile phone or MP3 player (it plays music through the legshield-mounted speakers), built-in GPS satellite navigation system and lighted grips.
Both models look very cool with their single-sided forks and swingarms. While we have no inclination that either of these scooter concepts will make it into production, let alone come to America, be sure to check out the video after the break for a hint at a possible future model.

I really like the electric concept bikes so far. Eventually when some of these go into production and the prices become very affordable I can envision most people having a least one of these in their garage.

"evil" and ugly, but i'm willing to accept it because it is electric.

The first scooter company to not make people sit upright will be the one I consider. Sitting up just ian't appealing and takes some of the edge off of the looks of the scooter. Would it really be that hard to design a scooter like motorcycles where riders lean forward rather than sitting at attention at a school desk?

Man...nice scooter....very stylish and looks fun.

sigh i could blow away all these electric motorcycles for less money. 72V 50AH LiFePo4 pack $4,000 That includes balancing.
72V AC motor and controller 45peak hp.
18 constant HP. $1,800 dollars.
Chinese roller, midsize bike same size as a 600CC.
$1,000.
Charger $500
Total labor in a production methiod not home assembly.
20 man hours.
Controller and charger hidden in tank. batteries where the engine once was. motor where the tranny once was.
Brackets could be produced for only a few dollars each.
1st station, Wires the bike.
2nd station installs motor and chain and battery pack
3rd connects the wires.
another station installs the controller and charger in the tank.
range Dependant on speed but 70miles at 30 MPH would be reasonable and 45miles at highway speed.

Very stylish and nice but now a days i am rarely impressed by concepts because essentially they say " well this is what i am going to do but not in the near future" Almost a tease and makes me wonder why we cant have them now. Its very easy to create a concept but the true accomplishment is bringing it to the real world

There are some decent looking scooters but nothing that looks like this concept. For the love-ah-pete please make a scooter that looks this cool! I don't care about it being electric.
Offer a range of engines up to 600cc, start a racing series based on these and watch them fly off the shelf.
