Barack on a bike
With the gas tax idea hopefully safely behind us and just two major party political contenders left in the race for president of the U.S., the Democratic Party's presumptive nominee, Barack Obama, spent some time over the weekend acting like still President Bush (kind of) by riding around on emissions-free, two-wheeled transportation. The AP reports that the Obama family rode with some neighbors along Lake Michigan in the Chicago area for a while until rain came. When he's not pedaling around (or using the immense energy resources required to campaign for president), Obama is in favor of higher CAFE averages, more biofuel and hybrid Hummers.[Source: AP via Ecorazzi]

I'm sure he, like all the rest of us, is not entirely emissions-free. :)

Jeans on a bike? And the tires look low on air...I call a photo-op

Oh, whee, Obama rode a bike for a few minutes.
He had to trade in his 300 C V-8 when his hypocrisy was exposed: http://www.chryslerweblog.com/?p=1468
To be fair, I'm sure his carbon footprint is smaller than Al Gore's, but then whose isn't?

", Barack Obama, spent some time over the weekend acting like still President Bush "
Do you proof your work? This sentence just does not flow and makes no sense.

It makes more sense if you say it out loud. It is poor writing, and it sounds conversational... But, I mean, this is a blog, isn't it?

Hey, lets examine his environmental concerns by looking at his house.... oh, let me guess thats not allowed?
photo op is what this screams, but it really is funny as I just mentioned on a thread the other day I was curious how long before some partisan twit started using this site for Obamania regardless of how tenuously related to automobiles it was.
Guess we know. Perhaps next we'll have Obamasiah on a bike buying CFLs and taking heating oil in his backpack to poor people all the while singing "its a beautiful life"

Is it my imagination, or is the bike too small for him? I recognize the is guy is 6'1", but that's not unusually tall, and the bike seems waaay too small and ill-fitted.
His left leg seems fairly bent even though the pedal is at 6:00, and his right thigh seems pretty high and his knee awkwardly close to the handle bars. I would think a longer seatpost and handlebar stem would be in order, if not a larger frame entirely.
Such a poor fit would suggest, of course, it's really not his bike, or that not much thought went in to the purchase or extensive use of the machine... which lends creedence to the notion of it being a hasty and contrived photo op.

Took the words right out of my mouth, ride that bike for more than a few miles and Barack would rerally know some pain!

If you people would bother reading the article, you would find that it has nothing to do with the environment or emissions. He is simply riding a bike with his family and neighbors. Get over yourselves.

"Obama is in favor of higher CAFE averages, more biofuel and hybrid Hummers."
So is Pres Bush. Now, Bill Cinton never was, but that is a story for another day.
