Another way to scoot: Pulse Kick 'N Go Xcelerator

According to the advertisements, "The more you kick it, the more it screams." Perhaps they aren't talking about what you think they are talking about. In fact, the Pulse Kick 'N Go is a human powered scooter which has a large pedal on the back which allows powered movement without touching the ground. There is a chain which connects the rear pedal to the back wheel, which is designed to spin in only one direction. Along with what appears to be fairly sturdy aluminum construction is a large front wheel which should make this scooter a bit more stable than some competitors on the market.
The company is marketing the machine very heavily, and there is even a blog that you can check out here. Even the crew over at The View have taken a look at this new product. We've gone ahead and pasted a video of its appearance on the TV show after the break.

Man, it makes me feel old when I have to point out that there's almost nothing "new" about this besides the brand name. Growing up, there was a kid in the neighborhood with a scooter that worked like this, and it would have been built in the 1950s or 1960s, judging by the styling.

Honda used to make these decades ago, I had one as a kid. Still hanging in my garage, actually.

I had something similar, around 1960-63 in the UK. I loved it and used to travel several miles a time on it. Unfortunately a delivery truck reversing into our driveway flattened it. I am now aged 60 and would still like one.

Website says it is aimed at kids and refers to it as a toy.
I have used a kick scooter for short trips but an old ankle injury does not tolerate the high impact. Something like this might work, if it was scaled up for adults.
Tried the 3G stepper, but it was a slug.

Just bought the Xcelerator for my sons Birthday, after 5 minutes the pump mechanism stopped working. It's one heavy slug of lead and that's probably the half of it. I am really disappointed and when you go to the website there is no FAQ to even give you a clue as to what is wrong. Made it China is no surprise either, hence the fact that also is an additional factor for my nice new.......problem.
Anyone out there gotta any idea whats wrong with my now piece of useless junk ?

My son is 9 years old and I purchased this scooter for him for Christmas. He fell off it and landed on the foot peg. The unsafe peg which has no cushion (i.e., rubber plastic) embedded in his leg. The cut was so deep that it required 4 internal stitches and 13 external stitches. I contacted the company and they admitted no wrong doing in their faulty product.
I will never buy a product from bravo sports again and would discourage anyone else from buying their products.
