Natural Gas Vehicle Cooperative launches in three western states

We know that T. Boone Pickens is a fan of natural gas, but powering vehicles with the clean-burning fossil fuel isn't exactly on the top of Americans' wishlist. The newly-formed Natural Gas Vehicle Purchasing Cooperative (NGV Co-Op), started by CALSTART and operational in three states (Arizona, Nevada and California), will help fleet managers "to quickly identify, locate, and purchase a wide range of light-, medium-, and select heavy- duty natural gas vehicles at the best prices." Most CNG vehicles available today are larger work trucks, so aiming at the fleet market makes sense. The current list of available vehicles includes the following:
- Honda Civic GX;
- Chevrolet Express Van
- Chevrolet Silverado pickup
- GMC Sierra pickup
- GMC Topkick
- Ford E-450 shuttle bus
- Ford Crown Victoria
- Ford F-150
- F-250 pickup
- Ford Van
- Ford E-350 cutaway

Come on Big Three. Here is your chance. Make natural Gas Cars. I want to buy one but the Honda is too small. I would like a mid size sedan made with natural gas. How hard is it.....

There ya go Jeff.
With all the folks screaming and hollering about batteries and hybrids, ev's and heaven forbid hydrogen they are overlooking what already here in CNG.
TO me its hands down the best thing going. I drive 75 miles a day for $2. CNG is .90 cents here in Oklahoma and its cheaper than that in few states. Its also cleaner burning than anything around.
Between my wife and I we save about 6g a year. Now thats the GREEN im talking about.
What gets me is its here now and has been. Its big all over the world and in about every country except here in the USA. Oh well let them whine about batteries and stand in line while they wait for something better, I have my better now.

CNG is the fuel of TODAY forget hydrogen it has been only 5 years away for the last 20 years. Ethanol is a joke and EV's are too much $$.
I drive a 2000 Toyota Camry CNG. Toyota made about 300 of them in 99-01 as far as I am concerned it's the perfect car. 300 mile range, roomy, comfortable, reliable and I fill it up at home for about $1.50 a gallon. Honda can't build enough Civic GX NGV's all other auto manufacturers should pull their heads out of their asses
