Honda to reveal new sports car concept at British International Motor Show

The British International Motor Show will be the backdrop for the latest Honda reveal; a lightweight, low CO2 sports car concept called the OSM. The acronym stands for Open Model Study and speculation runs rife that it somehow related to the upcoming CR-Z hybrid coupe slated for 2009 production. Drivetrain details were not released so it is unknown if it is envisioned as another hybrid, though it will probably have some type of internal combustion engine as it is referred to as "low CO2" and not "CO2 free." Company spokesperson, Steve Kirk, did say it wasn't meant as a replacement for the rear wheel drive S2000.
The convertible was penned at the company's German R&D center in Offenbach and, if the concept goes from clay to metal and eventually makes it to showrooms, Honda has hopes it will further boost their "green image". Though it still early days, judging by the drawing, the OSM should be true to its apparent homophone, "awesome."

Would love to see this with a V-tec and a two-mode, if not a mild hybird. A 2 seater that can move and get good MPGs would be pretty nice.

For a moment I thought maybe this was a revealing of the next Acura NSX, but it's just a hybrid concept sort of thing. (Although it would be strange for the NSx to apepar on ABG)
Anyways, it's good to see some sort of evolving of the CRZ, but I think this concept will probably be a 2+2 like the CRZ, and not a two- seater.
CMiller, there already is a car that is a two seater that can move and gets good MPGs, it's the Honda Insight. Despite being the most advanced car you can possible get for the price, it was a flop. :( It has the lowest CO2 emissions of any car in the whole world. But it was a tiny two seater, so it didn't sell well. Maybe it can't "move" as fast as a sports car, but it was okay.

Joseph, yea i forgot about that car. :( At the time that came out I was still pretty blind about everything, still thinking bigger is better. Thanks for the insight.

At last, honda sport cars line is reborning. With next NSX, Concept 4 and CR-Z I can see more quality options in sport cars for honda entusiastics, dispite S2000 only kingdoomship for years. But, Why Honda "killed" Prelude?
