John McCain gets production Chevy Volt sneak preview
While it seems the public must wait until September to get a glimpse of the final production version of the Chevy Volt, GM is letting John McCain cut to the front of the line to take a good look at the architecture that the company hopes will propel them into the next decade. The presumptive Republican presidential nominee was given a tour of the GM Design Center Dome at Warren, MI today where he later held a Town Hall meeting with hundreds of GM employees. We guess they're not holding that "Some of the jobs that have left the state of Michigan are not coming back," line from the primaries against him.McCain seems not to caved to the auto industry's wishes on national emissions standards on this visit. Though last month he told the Detroit News that he would like a national standard that would make state standards unnecessary, today he clarified his position by saying, "I guess at the end of the day, I support the states being able to do that,[set their own standards]." He also recounted his earlier ideas for helping the industry get its groove back by giving $5,000 tax credits to low-emission vehicle purchasers and, of course, his $300 million battery challenge.

Is it the same mock-up they use to keep Maximum Bob blissfully unaware?

And who killed the $6000 EV credit in December's Energy Bill?
McCain.
He was back in Washington, just couldn't be bothered to drive over for the cloture vote. It missed by one vote. 59-43
No doubt Harry Reid had thought McCain would be a yes vote with all the talk. He is one passive agressive jerk.

Jon Stewart: Barack and Hillary Open the Panderer's Box

OK, so we're in debt up to our eyeballs. The dollar is collapsing and so is the economy due to pandering politician's uncontrolled spending. Our freedoms and privacy is being stripped in the name of "homeland security". The rest of the world hates us because we attack first and ask questions later and we're willing to bail out any bumbling FOR PROFIT corporation using taxpayer DEBT.
How much is it going to cost us to bail out GM because they decided that Hummer was a better corporate decision than the EV-1? How much MORE are we going to debase our currency to get this deal done? Does Congress REALLY think that the money in the magic hat with the little white bunny is endless and without cost?
I want the Volt too, but I want to buy one for myself, not for Congress to use my tax money, debt or to devalue my savings to buy one for some stranger.
American WAS about capitalism’s risk and reward. But now that there is no corporate risk, there can be no reward for those who are forced to bear the Burdon of public debt.
