KBB goes Green, awards Top Green Cars of 2008

What are the best green cars available to consumers in 2008? The Toyota Prius certainly springs to mind, and that model is in fact KBB's top choice in their new Top Green Cars of 2008 list. Six of KBB's top ten choices are hybrids, which is not surprising given their comparatively low fuel consumption numbers. There are three gasoline powered cars on the list, the Honda Fit, smart ForTwo and the Mini Cooper -- all find choices as far as we are concerned, and each sitting in a slightly different market niche. Lastly, a single model from Mercedes-Benz represents the few diesels currently available in America. That particular model is the E320 BlueTEC, a sedan which sort of falls under the new classification of Clean Diesels due to its use of some exhaust-scrubbing technology (MB has a waiver to lease the E320 in California and four other states for 2 years).
This list was launced in conjunction with KBB Green, a new site from Kelley Blue Book which focuses in on the emerging green-scene in the automotive realm. Hey, we were there first! We kid, of course (we weren't the very first). It's great to see a major player like KBB jump into the fray, giving consumers ever more eco-friendly information related to their next car purchase. Thanks for the tip, Ashley!

It's great that companies like Kelly are promoting green living with cars. Hopefully in the next few years, that list will have all electric or serious hybrids like the Aptera :)

I was just arguing with a complete douchebag journalist in Edmunds forums the other day. He's a hardcore right-wing neocon idiot who thinks bringing up the "troops" wildcard is supposed to melt my heart regarding our country's "future" being secured only militarily.
Anyway, he wrote an article stating that essentially it's not wort buying a hybrid because the price of fuel is going down...and even worse, he's supported by an even bigger douchebag called the "mechanic" who out and out hates hybrids...he states to just burn more fuel. Obviously an illiterate redneck but whatever.
My point is, many auto magazines and journalists have the responsibility to now test, report, and recommend green cars over the pathetically wasteful ones they are always pitching.
I mean look at crap journalism such as Car and Driver...HOW MANY times can we have a shootout of the same freaking cars? Over and over and over and over again?
Why? Because they have no new material. They honestly can't write decent articles about true automotive subjects for the life of them.
Instead, they need to engage in constant penile enhancing tests to make sure they are still men even though the doctor gives them a prostate exam once a year with his finger.
Kudos to KBB for taking on that responsibility of reporting green.

Since when are hybrids not gasoline powered? What do they fill their cars up with? I wonder why they are wasting all their time at gasoline stations if they arent filling up? I didnt know that the Prius and the rest of the hybrids stoped using gasoline.
I love the idea of "green cars" and i appreciate these slightly more efficent "hybrids" but im tired of seeing them in the same classification as electric and hydrogen vehicles. Im also against seeing these "hybrids" with "clean special fuel" license plates. Im pretty sure that my car runs off the same "clean special fuel" as they do even if i get about 3 mpg less!
