Carz4Girlz on how to get your parents to buy you an Escape hybrid

But what is you want an SUV but your 'rents just can't swing the extra scratch for a hybrid? The other recommendations from the Girlz are to opt for the Kia Sportage, which in V6/automatic guise returns just 17-mpg city and 21-mpg highway, or the Honda CR-V, which does better at 20 in the city and 26 on the highway with an automatic. We say stick with the hybrid.

OR maybe, um, get a job and pay the cost difference yourself? Are you listening Girlz?

The problem with buying a Ford Escape hybrid is... buying one!!! My son went to the dealer, and all three were spoken for... evidently, Ford is creating a "shortage" of hybrids, in the hope of selling non-hybrid (i.e. totally lame, unsellable, gas guzzling) SUV's. Of course, the type of person who buys a hybrid is NOT the same person who buys a gas-hog (are you listening, Ford?!!), so instead, a buyer must go elsewhere. Mr Ford, crank up production of hybrids and small cars! Build them, and they will come! Because we all know that gas will NOT get any cheaper!

STOOPID article. If someone wanted to save on gas why would they even think of considering an SUV?? The fact that its hybrid means nothing since it still gets horrible mileage compared to almost any car out. Unless you work in the lumber or construction business, this makes no sense.
Anyone asking their parents to buy a car is probably in college, and most definitely doesn't need an SUV to get around. It makes more sense to ask them to help you out with a Prius or other small car with good mileage.

I can't believe they stuck those drag inducing Xterra bars on the roof.
