AutoblogGreen now available in iPhone format

For those of you who read AutoblogGreen on your iPhone/iPod Touch, we've got good news. A new, stripped down version of our site is now available for mobile devices. The new URL is http://i.autobloggreen.com/ and it's already up and running. Pictures and galleries don't look quite as impressive in the new format, and all of the navigation links are either missing or in different places, but at least the text is a good size to read on the iPhone's screen. Why is the site optimized for Apple products? Because our numbers tell us that over 90 percent (92.8 percent to be exact) of the mobile device page views AutoblogGreen has had in 2008 were from the iPhone or the iPod Touch.
Of course, you can always keep reading ABG on the iPhone's Safari browser the "normal" way, with all the pictures and everything formatted correctly, just by viewing the standard URL. But, if you were looking for a more streamlined way to get your green car news, feel free to make iABG your new start page (do people still have start pages?). Enjoy.
UPDATE: There is also a version of AutoblogGreen optimized for mobile devices (not just the iPhone/iPod Touch) here. The URL is http://m.autobloggreen.com/.

Can I ask you guys at ABG just a couple of questions?
- Just what the hell do you think the rest of the planet was using for mobile web browsing the past 5 years before the iPhone came along?
- Were you even aware that apple didn't invent the internet-capable touch-screen phone? That credit goes to the palm treo. Blackberry runs a close second (not touch screen). Apple is a latecomer on the scene, with a barely functional device that lacks basic properties needed by most people (can you say cut & paste?)
This mobile site will work perfectly well with ALL MOBILE BROWSERS. Why the fascination with the frickin' iPhone? There are a ton of phones out there waaaaay better than the iPhone, and you just pi$$ed off a bunch of those phone users by advertising your mobile site as iPhone specific. You lose!

Sour grapes? This is like knocking someone who converts a Chevy to run on electric because Fords have been around longer. It makes no sense. They never said the iPhone was better or first-er, just that it represented over 90% of their mobile traffic. Makes sense to server the largest part of your audience regardless of platform, right?
Now can we get a cool iPhone icon for the home screen? :-)

I just added a note to the post about AutoblogGreen's other mobile viewing option. The iPhone version of the site is new, that's why I posted about it.
