Seat Ibiza Ecomotive gets "most ecological vehicle award" in Germany

The Verkehrs-Club Deutschland has declared the Seat Ibiza Ecomotive to be the most environmentally friendly car in Germany based on its CO2 emissions. The Ibiza actually shares the honor with its sibling, the Volkswagen Polo BlueMotion. The little Seat uses its 80 hp 1.4L turbodiesel to earn a carbon dioxide emissions rating of just 99 g/km along with combined fuel economy fo 61.9 mpg (U.S.). Like the BlueMotion models from parent Volkswagen, the Seat Ecomotives take highly efficient engines, combined with some aerodynamic tweaks, low rolling resistance tires and taller gearing to minmize fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. The Seat press release is after the jump.

ACCORDING TO VERKEHRS-CLUB DEUTSCHLAND

The Ibiza ECOMOTIVE is the most ecological vehicle in Germany

The SEAT Ibiza ECOMOTIVE is the first on the Verkehrs-Club Deutschland's 2008/2009 list in the "environmentally beneficial vehicle" category. Together with the Volkswagen Polo BlueMotion, the Ibiza ECOMOTIVE ranks best in its category, where CO2 emissions per kilometre driven are evaluated.

The leading position in Germany of the SEAT Ibiza ECOMOTIVE clearly underlines the brand's firm commitment to environmental sustainability, not only by manufacturing vehicles with reduced CO2 emissions, but by ensuring that the production, development and later recycling of its products generate the least impact on the environment.

The Ibiza ECOMOTIVE is the vehicle with the lowest CO2 emission levels in its segment, at 99 g/km, making possible its purchase in Spain without registration tax. Its 80 hp 1.4 TDI engine also features characteristically low fuel consumption levels, at an average of only 3.8 litres for every 100 kilometres of driving.

SEAT currently commercialises three ECOMOTIVE versions: the Ibiza with 99 g/km of CO2 emissions, the León with 119 g/km and the Alhambra with 159 g/km.

The new generation Ibiza will soon feature a new ECOMOTIVE version.
