U.K. drivers being overcharged for fuel?

Nobody wants to pay more for fuel than they need to. This may especially be true in the UK where, due in large part to heavy taxes, both gas and diesel are much more expensive than they are in the States. Regardless of how much it's taxed, though, as the price for a barrel of crude goes down, so should the cost of fuel for the end consumer, at least in theory. It seems that this isn't entirely the case across the pond, where an investigation is currently underway into current fuel prices. When compared to the last time the bulk price of crude was comparable to what it is now, the price at the pump is notably higher. Sure, there's more to the price of a gallon of petrol than how much the refiner paid for its stock, but even after allowing for these adjustments, many believe that the UK population is being overcharged. Sounds like a common sentiment the world over.

I think that the high price of crude and the high quantity of it from the middle east was organized by big oil and western goverments and banks to start a conflict between arabs and jewishs. Maybe they changed their tactics and decided to ruin everybody instead.
With all i said in the last 2 years here in this chat site, we can be motoring at 50 cents gallon equivalent without pollution. People will have to choose between total war machine or green algae-natural gas-hydrogen gas and free markets for cars and machinery.

I agree apart from the conspiracy theories and the hydrogen bull.

Yeah, because Muslims never, ever fought with jews or any one else, until Exxon and Shell came along.

Oil is at $100 a barrel for the first time in 5 months and gas is way up all over North America all because of the ancient refineries that sit right in harms way, how many damn hurricanes is it going to take before government steps in and says for the security of the nation you have to build a refinery in the north?
