Zap ships record number of vehicles in 3Q 2008

Following sales of $737,000 of vehicles in August and the Kentucky plant groundbreaking in September, Zap has announced that the company shipped more vehicles in the third quarter of 2008 than during any other time since it started selling the Xebra (truck and sedan versions) in 2006. How many vehicles make up Zap's new record? 240, which is up from 80 in the third quarter of 2007. Second quarter Xebra sales were 130 in 2008 and 80 in 2007. These sales increases also mean that Zap was able to add jobs (30 percent more since the start of 2008), according to an announcement out earlier this week. Oh, and "ZAP is launching new electric vehicles in the fourth quarter." Will we get more Zappys or something bigger?

I hate to be a persistant ZAP troll but come on...
Find some news on ZAP that isn't directly from ZAP's own press relseases or from a single source article where that single source is ZAP itself.
I have trouble wondering if people are actually buying the chinese crap cars that they sell or if ZAP's owners are just trying to give their stock another short term boost.
My guess is the only thing the Kentucky plant will make is more press releases.
I really don't see how ABG always gives these guys a free pass on here.

I've seen a few of the Zap Xebras rolling around in our own neighborhood. And there's a small local dealership in this area that sells the cars. They tell me that it's hard to keep them on the floor they sell so quickly. When economic times get tough, it's the "green" companies that prosper.

They have the right product at the right time, but they're extremely vulnerable from a technology standpoint.
They're basically hooking up lead-acid batteries to a washing machine motor and calling it a green revolution. That's not going to be enough when Toyota adds a plug to their Prius or the GM Volt is available.

Zap arent competing with either of those guys? its a simple rugged utility vehicle, like I commented making things complicated doesnt improve reliability and isnt necessary with EV's, that's a large part of their appeal,

Making things more complicated then they need to be is what has got us in this energy mess, if all we need is batteries and motors then good!, Car companies are busy trying to make it seem all terribly complicated as usual, but you're right all we need is a good battery and a good motor, the rest is just ancillaries, if people weren't so fear based we could start converting cars on a national scale next week, out with the engine and all that junk, in with the motor and battery pack, every commuter with a 10 mile or less commute could be driving an EV, now trying to please people who don't want to change to EV's anyway is going to be another matter, we'll always be stuck with that type apparently
