More information about Renault's EV project in Spain
Not long ago, Spain launched a wishlist of plans to make the country greener. It included a target of one million hybrid, plug-in and all-EV cars on roads by 2015. This is where Renault arrived with its projects around the world regarding EVs (Denmark, Portugal and Israel). But, Nissan's plant in Barcelona is laying off 1,680 workers due to the economic crisis, so the Ministry of Industry, as well as two regional Governments, have created a task force with Renault to give the EV car project a boost and retain workplaces in Spain. According to the Minister of Industry, Miguel Sebastián, a million cars will need three factories, so Renault has a hint on where they would be very welcome to build or keep one. Results are expected next February.[Source: EP via Econoticias]

In portugal we invested in the wrong green tech:
several football stadiums (with green grass) were built instead of EV's factory's :( a short sight investment to keep people dumb and "happy", (un)fortunately we are about to be unqualified to enter the 2010 football world cup, maybe some more Portuguese people realize it was not the right investment at the time.

Not every thing is perfect in Portugal, but the country is making a hell of a investment in green tech. Solar, hydro, wind and wave power sources are getting on line every day.
