Project Green Leaf plans "Plug In America Infrastructure"

It appears that the forces behind an electric car factory in Florida have ambitions that reach far beyond the borders of the Sunshine State or the building of a gas-free car. With the launch of its new website, Project Green Leaf announces its intentions of creating a country-wide infrastructure of charging points for the coming fleet of plug-in hybrids and electric cars. Its initial focus seems centered on several types of locations for their chargers consisting of hotels, restaurants, movie theaters and shopping centers. Unlike the better known "Better Place" infrastructure company, no mention is made of battery-swapping stations or cell phone-like payment model.

One interesting feature of the PGL program is the integration of information services into its charging posts. Each four foot tall, stainless steel station would have an integrated touch screen that could display information you request, such as your account details or the local weather. They could also display location-specific ads or movie trailers and thereby add another revenue stream for the company. While the eventual success of the Project Green Leaf effort remains to be seen, we can't help but be impressed by the scope of their vision. We will keep you informed as more details emerge.
