Scion iQ looking more and more likely in U.S.

The hints from a few weeks ago that Toyota would be bringing the tiny iQ to the U.S. with a Scion badge are looking more and more like the truth. AutoblogGreen reader Mark F. got an email from his local Scion dealer, Bill Kidd's in Maryland, that describes "The Future of Scion." The full update on the Scion brand reads as follows:
Scion is recognized world wide for their distinctive and customizable models, with the dependability of a Toyota product. Recently, the Scion xD was recognized by Consumer Reports as the #1 reliable new car with 80% less problems than the average model. Scion remains committed to bringing Gen Y buyers a unique, yet affordable vehicle, and 2010 is sure to be the biggest year yet. The highly anticipated, newly redesigned tC will be released, as well as an all new vehicle: The Scion IQ. As the smallest, most fuel efficient Scion, it's sure to turn heads. Stay tuned!
Nothing new there, but hearing from a dealer that the Scion iQ is on the way in 2010 is about at much confirmation as we're likely to get right now, isn't it?

Should add some interest to Scion. As the marque has withered since they made a bloated whale out of the XB.For me,unless it was cheaper than a Yaris or got huge gas millage I don't see an advantage-but you could park 2 in a single garage.

I love my bloated whale...it's a great car. if you don't like it, that's fine, it's not for everyone, just like the iQ is not for me. But don't knock it, or try to make it out to be a crappy car, because it's not to your liking.

This is great and all, but... why make it the '10 tC? Is there some unholy pact that Toyota made with dark forces that only allow them to have three Scion types available at one time?
It would have made more sense to me to market this as the new xA.

From the article: "The highly anticipated, newly redesigned tC will be released, as well as an all new vehicle: The Scion IQ." - this is not going to be the new tC, which will be a redesign, but a new vehicle for the Scion lineup.

A, I'm happy toyota is finally bringing Scion to Canada; B, if they insist on keeping to a three vehicle lineup, discontinue the xB or xD to meke room for the iQ.

I want to get on a waiting list of the iQ, but I really want a high-mpg clean diesel.
I'm in CA, and it seems that a 50-state clean diesel in an iQ, a Yaris or Corolla would sell like crazy here just like in Europe. I am so tired of seeing huge diesel pickups and SUV's on CA roads that aren't clean diesels. I don't understand CARB (CA Air Resource Board) that they let huge smoke belchers in and then they keep out the small clean diesel cars like Europe.
I'm sick of politics instead of common sense (not very common, you know).

I was at the Scion event here in Vegas a few months back. Look closer to 2011 for this to be released. The also all but flat out said the Fuze is coming, although they were vauge when it came to being a tC replacement or another addition. They did say they should start expanding to 5 models by 2011 and more than like they'l have one major redesign and at least two new models (iQ and Fuze.. or would that be fZ?)
Watercooler talk also points to a possible 2 door CNV Hybrid in the works and the Subaru/Toyota RWD effort being Scion badged.

Nice looking little 4 banger with 55 mpg , not bad for a 3 seater . Just too bad we have to wait almost 2 yrs for it. car companies were making these cars 15 years ago and for some reason stopped ,. Ever heard of that chevy metro . If i had the money i could get me a tesla roadster in less than 6 months with price of $109 g's . but have to wait 2 years for a 4 banger . Really sad when the big guys are playin catch up with the little guys.... Just goes to show who's calling the shots in this global economy. BIG OIL

Does it come with a popper manual gearbox? If so it will be a smart killer...
