Spyshots: Chevy Beat spotted on the wild!

The Chevy Beat was voted the favorite of the trio of subcompacts that GM introduced at the 2007 LA Auto Show. Although it's set to start production next year in South Korea, we've gotten a sneak preview courtesy of Autoblog reader Kyle Swift, who sent a few cellphone pics he took of a camo'd Beat prototype sitting in a parking lot at New York's Rochester Institute of Technology. The car has gained an extra set of doors from the original prototype and the turbocharger has been dropped. It will be powered by a 1.2L 16-valve DOHC inline-four, mated to either a manual or automatic gearbox, although Europeans will probably have a diesel option available as well.
