Renault to unveil a Twingo-based roadster
If you think that the current generation of the Renault Twingo - a fairly low-polluting car and quite useful on crowded European cities - isn't that much of a looker, take a look at this first image of the Twingup. I happen to like to first-gen Twingo, but can appreciate that Renault has taken some inspiration from the converted Honda CRX convertibles for its new Twingo-based roadster. The Twingup's manually-adjusted roof can be stored in the trunk, and Renault expects that this solution will lower the price of the car so as it will compete against similar cars such as the Micra C+C, the Peugeot 207 CC and the Opel Tigra, which have electrically-operated foldable roofs. The Twingup should appear during the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2010.

Is it called the Twinkie?
No wonder this isn't in the US, who would buy something called a twingo.

The reason you stated why the car would not sell in America, you used the term twinkie, is due to your and the majority of America`s obsessive preoccupation with homosexuality. Go buy yourself a new f-150, because hey, it`s the ONLY way to affirm your manliness (or masculinity) in U.S and A.

This car looks sweet. I wish we could get this in the US.
I love the removable roof; its just like the Honda Del Sol; the design was sweet because it kept the price down and even with the roof removed there was still alot of room in the trunk.

there is no chance for a rear wheel drive + in this segment I think the power will be probably 100 from the same 1.2 turbo as the twigo TCE although there is a chance that renault will put a bigger 1.6 like in the twingo RS to compete better with the 207CC I doubt they will

That's adorable. Give it at least 150HP and RWD and I'd check into it. Yes I know this is AutoblogGREEN but automakers like Honda already squeeze 140HP and 34MPG out of a civic, I'm sure Renault could do comparable with a platform this tiny.

The Frankfurt Motor Show is taking place in 2009, not in 2010. The car, however, will be ready to go on sale in 2010.
Best Regards,
Lars
