Detroit 2009: Dodge Circuit on the stand

Click above for a high-res gallery of the Dodge Circuit
We got the technical details and press pics about the new Dodge Circuit earlier today, but now we've had a chance to see the car for ourselves. Of course, if you've ever seen a Lotus Europa, you, too have pretty much seen the Circuit. After all, the only thing that Dodge added to the exterior is the crosshair grille and the Tangoreen color - oh, and the badging. The all-electric guts - with A123 battery pack and 200 kW motor - are cool, and if Chrysler wasn't in so much financial trouble, we'd look forward to driving one of these someday. We recognize a shortcut when we see one, but we're still glad that when a company wants to draw attention to itself, electric drive is the way to do it. Sure is way cooler than a Rampede.

Aw not as cool as the demon, but at least we know it's real. I'm most interested in this car. I hope it's affordable, like a poor man's tesla. I'd lease it.

believe it when you see it in a showroom

Real in what sense? It is a concept.
A concept built from more expensive Components than a Tesla roadster.
Do you really think Dodge is getting into the $100K electric sports car market?
Zero chance of this being built. They are trotting out the electric concept to keep the bailout money coming in.

It's based on a Lotus design, and could be produced by Lotus or their parent company, Proton, fairly soon. It will likely cost than the Tesla Roadster, but it won't be cheap, I'd guesstimate a price between $60K and $80K each.

I WANT THIS CAR. My dream car has always been based on how 'cool' it looks. Give me 'cool', AND energy efficient? IM IN!
Lets put that bail-out money to good use!
(If they build it, I will come)
