XtremeGreen prices EM2-A09 electric motorcycle at $7,999
Last month, we first reported on a new electric motorcycle from XtremeGreen Products with the unforgettable name of EM2-A09. At the time we only knew the claimed specs of the lithium ion-powered bike. The claimed range is 95 miles on a charge with a top speed of 65 mph, meaning it should be usable on highways. David Isserman from XtremeGreen Products dropped us a note last night to let us know that the bike now has a price tag, too, and the MSRP is $7,999. XtremeGreen is still saying the bike will launch in the first quarter of this year, so we'll be keeping an eye out for it. Hopefully, we can get Jeremy a review unit to try out and while the folks at XtremeGreen come up with a better name.

The Asians can't seem to figure out that America is NOT Asia or Europe and we (non-gay) Americans DON'T LIKE SCOOTERS.
Sell Harley Softail style cruiser MOTORCYCLES for around $7K in AMERICA, and they would move out the door like McDonalds hamburgers.
STYLE COUNTS AND YOU MUST KNOW YOUR MARKET!!!
The "Big-3" are just now learning this lesson the hard way.

Did you even look at the photo? That's no Vespa there!
Granted, it isn't a chopper with ape hanger handlebars and the front fork sticking waay out, but I'd never mistake it for a scooter.

Well, it is a step-through design so I would consider it a scooter. But Harleys are hardly the final word on motorcycle design. There are many competitive cruisers from Indian, Honda, Yamaha and Suzuki. And the sport segment seems to be bigger these days anyway.

I think this is coming out at exactly the right time. I'm personally glad to see an electric motorcycle coming to market that can travel on highways.

I'm all for these companies putting out products like this...but to say its usable on highways when its top speed is only 65 mph??
Some may feel good about plodding along at 5 to 10 mph under the speed limit and being a safety hazard to themselves and others trying to go around them...I'm not...
For it to be really practical (and at ~$8000 it should be!) top end would need to be at least 90mph...you need that much extra umph to drive safely.
Otherwise don't advertise it as a highway vehicle.

I wouldn't drive it on the freeway, but there are plenty of roads, including some major thoroughfares, that have speed limits from 45 to 55 mph, that's what this bike was made for.

I love my Burgman, Tim. I have to take a ration from my son who has a Harley, but it will go over 90, carry all my fishing gear or groceries and gets between 60 and 70 MPG by the onboard computer (which is probably not that accurate). I like this new electric bike, and I would much rather have one than a Harley. Not everyone gets the Harley thing, Tim. They are loud and I like quiet. They vibrate like crazy and I like smooth. They are not very fuel efficient and parts fall off of them and they are among the most overpriced items on the market. To each his own. You are entitled to love Harleys, but if you result to name calling for people that don't, you have a deficient vocabulary.

This is just another drop-shipped Chinese knockoff product -- products with nigh-identical styling and supposed specs can be found on alibaba.com and other "electric vehicle companies" (in quotes since they don't make anything, just set up a US front for a Chinese factory).
I would not trust it one bit, and you will not find local support for it unless you happen to live next door to the importer.

I'ts to bad if thats true...seems like i have seen a lot of this type of product come out..or rather announced but then never hear or see them again..only to find out later on they never lived up to the hype or were as you said; just a re branded knockoff with no support that died out.

This is hardly spec'd to an asian knockoff. I haven't heard of many that have power management systems...I think this will be a nice vehicle for a lot of people. I'm curious to see what else they are coming out with.

STYLE COUNTS!!!
I'm speaking of design STYLE and this IS a step-through SCOOTER!
I mentioned H.D. as a STYLE comparison which those who actually READ can clearly see.
A cruiser STYLE electric motorcycle would NOT be loud, obnoxious, or unreliable unlike some of the arm chair geniuses on this blog.
The bottom line is that ADULT Americans like Cruiser STYLE motorcycles more than scooters. Europeans, Asians, Children and Gays seem to like scooters more.
It’s a FACT, so grow a pair, toughen your skin, don’t shoot the messenger and don’t make me dig out the sales statistics…

I think this looks more than fine. Kinda has the look of a ridable jet ski. To everyone bagging it as a scooter, what if it were, people ride 30mph electric bikes on most campuses all the time. this thing is double the speed and twice as much like a motorcycle. I dont see why people try to live hungering for yesterdays look, soo afraid to be judged or not fit in with the other apes. If this can do 65 and get near 100miles on a charge for 8 grand then thats a good deal, especially live in a place like me (Nebraska) where the power is cheap(really) it will save a lot. By this time next year gas should be back at 2$+(my guess) and not just cost its more environmentally sound(and I'm planning on some solar panels and a converter for juicing it). For all the small trips I make during the day(when there isn't snow or rain) this should be my answer. Good to see something that can get 65mph 100MPC(milespercharge) for under 17k. If american companies step up and put out 12k or less within a half year of that release I'll wait. But all the delays and fear of failure has the US locked up and too behind for that.
