Peugeot 3008 crossover to get HYbrid4 technology in 2011

Peugeot-Citroen HYmotion4 hybrid drive architecture

Last fall at the Paris Motor Show, Peugeot and Citroen showed off several concepts using a through the road hybrid powertrain dubbed HYmotion4. The system has now been renamed HYbrid4 and the first confirmed production application of the HYbrid4 system will be in the 2011 Peugeot 3008 crossover. Conventionally-powered versions of the 3008 with gas and diesel engines go on sale this summer in Europe.

At the Paris show, the 3008 was shown in concept form as the Prologue HYmotion4. When the 3008 HYbrid4 debuts it will be powered by a 163hp 2.0L diesel engine driving the front wheels. A 37 hp electric motor drives the rear wheels providing electric boost, blended drive, electric only drive and regenerative braking capability with a lithium ion battery. Peugeot expects the hybrid 3008 to get 57 mpg (U.S.) with CO2 emissions of just 109 g/km.
