Want a Tesla quicker? Bid for it!

Want a Tesla Roadster but don't want to wait until the hundreds of buyers already queued have theirs delivered? If you've got a bit of cash sitting around you may be able to cut in line (there's a wiki for everything!) and give to a charitable cause at the same time by bidding for one. You had better act fast though as there are only a few days left in the Roadster auction being held over at CharityBuzz. To get your electric speed machine within 2 to 4 months, you're going to have to plunk down at least $125,000 to place the "minimum next bid." The spec sheet (PDF) provided by the website seems a little dated so you also might want to double check with them about how this model is equipped, since the recent option changes may have you paying a little extra for some previously standard options. The package does include a special tour-for-two of the Menlo Park assembly area as well as some fashionable Tesla apparel. The benefactor of the auction will be the Happy Hearts Fund.

Well, yeah, as it is for a charitable cause, and there are tax deductions as a charitable contribution, and there is a $7k tax deduction for being a zero emission vehicle, and it is rare enough to be a status symbol, and even with the bum economy some folks still got lots of bucks and want to show off.
But most of all, it is one hot dream car.
