Geneva preview: Fisker's European strategy - and have you seen these pics?

Fisker Automotive gave the automotive world a big reveal - the Karma S - last month at the Detroit Auto Show. For the upcoming Geneva show, the company doesn't have anything as impressive planned, but we're still interested in the news they promised us today. Specifically, Fisker says that when the plug-in hybrid Karma and Karma S make their European debuts in Geneva, the company will also announce its European retail network strategy and pricing. In Detroit, Henrik Fisker announced that the Karma would cost US$87,900 and said it hopes to sell 15,000 Karmas a year starting in 2011. More details after the jump.

FISKER AUTOMOTIVE CHOOSES GENEVA FOR EUROPEAN DEBUT OF LUXURY PLUG-IN HYBRID CARS
Pricing and European retail strategy to be announced.
IRVINE, California – February 13, 2009: Fisker Automotive, the new American manufacturer of premium green automobiles, will unveil its Karma and Karma S luxury plug-in hybrid cars for the first time on European soil at the Geneva Motor Show on March 3, 2009. The 408 horsepower, 100mpg Karma saloon will appear in the production trim customers will receive when deliveries begin the end of this year. The Karma S hardtop convertible coupe concept is scheduled for production in 2011. A European retail network strategy, along with vehicle options and pricing, will also be announced.
The full size, four-place Fisker Karma fuses the traditional and timeless styling of former Aston Martin and BMW auto designer and Fisker Automotive CEO Henrik Fisker, with Q-DRIVE®, a new, clean-energy powertrain, to become the world's first luxury plug-in hybrid car. The Karma will be able to reach 100 km/h (62mph) in six seconds and a top speed of 200 km/h (125mph), while being able to achieve an average annual fuel consumption rate of 2.4 l/100km (100mpg). It also features new materials and technologies not seen before on any production vehicle, such as a 26cm (10.5") haptic touch-screen control panel and environmentally friendly interior trim.

Hey Harlan, brilliant bash the "rich" comment. It's O.K. really, it only points to the fact you have no sense of achievement and believe in a gov. taking care of you b/c you fail to meet your own expectations. Or does it bother you that the green movement has lead to a vehicle that creates a new luxury segment and is not simply the domain of the Prius crowd. The only thing obscene is your view point. As for the Fisker, it's fantastic! It's not easy pretending to save the planet while hating everyone other than yourself so....I'll just enjoy the Fisker for what it is. Sorry to cut the rant short, but my champagne bath is now ready. Oh, you will know it's my Fisker by the fur seat inserts and the bumper sticker that reads "Global Warming is a Fraud Caused By Sun and The Jealously Ill-Informed, I JUST LIKE THE CAR". I'll see you at work, I'm your boss.

The comment is fair, and I hope you want and can afford the car. My point is to most people it's irrelevent and it will be a very limited production product. It looks like a great car, but only for the rich.

Your comment is fair, but apparently I didn't express myself well enough to make my point. I hope you can afford a Fisker, and I hope they succeed, but because of the price, it will be a very limited production, and as a sportscar, it's lacks practicality for ordinary people. It would likely be a second car (or 3rd, 4th, whatever), in reality, a toy for the rich, and that is not bashing rich people, it's just stating the facts.
