Th!nk City nominated for Brit Insurance Designs of the Year

A nomination does not a win make, but the team over at Th!nk must be happy about anything positive these days. The town crier came in with news that the Th!nk City has been nominated for a Brit Insurance Designs of the Year award, hosted by the Design Museum in London. Like the iQ before it, the nomination means that the all-electric City vehicle will be on display in the museum until the middle of June. British designer Sebastian Conran nominated the city EV and said the City was, "Cute-but-purposeful, it exudes 'form, follows function' and fashion too." Oh, and let's not forget that it moves well.
Other nominations of note for AutoblogGreen readers include the Greenbird vehicle, Better Place's charging stations and Daimler's Car2Go smart fortwo sharing service. See the full list of Transport nominees after the jump.

Just curious as to why it only seems available with a matte paint finish? Not that its going to matter, doesn't look we will be seeing any in the US *sigh*

IIRC, the Th!nk City's panels are made from polyethylene - with the color blended throughout the material.
The upside is no painting is required; scratches don't show because they're the same color. The downside is you don't get a glossy finish.
why not the LS2LS7? 5:16PM (2/15/2009)
Phil L is correct. The panels aren't painted, they're colored, textured low-density polyethelene. If you touch the car, it's like touching a Rubbermaid shed or a plastic garbage can.
The real downsides are it is very heavy, made from petroleum and looks and feels screechingly cheap.

What exactly is wrong? Did it actually win?
I fear you think it should read 'A nomination does not make a win'. The original is an acceptable and creative way to structure a sentence, which adds emphasis. Imagine a news reader saying it.

The Th!nk City is about 5 years old. How does it get nominated this year?
