When we first met the RX 450h hybrid CUV - excuse me, the "car-based luxury utility vehicle," during the LA Auto Show last November, Lexus wouldn't say what mileage the vehicle would get. Now that we're a bit closer to the release date and the CUV's European debut at the Geneva Motor Show this week, Lexus has announced that the RX 450h gets 44.8 mpg (37 mpg U.S.) on the combined cycle, an improvement of 28 percent. Combine that with CO2 emissions of 148 grams per km, and Lexus has numbers to brag about. The RX 450h goes on sale in the UK this summer. We'll get more details on the European debut from Geneva this coming week.

Now I see how the EU cycle really bloats / inflates mileage figures...

Haha, that's a moronic commnent you made, buddy. The UK mile is different from the U.S. mile.
And besides, it's Liters per 100 km in europe (l/100km) not mpg.

No, no, the figure in question is in mpg US.. not mpg UK...

no need to bite the guy's head off for bein confused.
To Ale: An imperial (UK) gallon is 1.2 US gallons. so you get fewer miles per US gallon. consumption is the same.
UK is the only country in Europe to use the mpg system, thought they do still give the litre per km measurement in most advertised figures.
Bottom line is, ppl with small european cars that are a few years old (like a small peugeot 206 for example or a VW Polo) will no longer have anything to say about cars like this. A 1.4 litre VW polo from 3 years ago pollutes more (just over 150 g/km) and consumes fractionally more. The only thing they will be able to moan about is indulgence in such a relatively expensive car. I drive a lexus, and you get wat u pay for.

MPG is not inflated. UK mile is different then US mile ;)
And just for the record, normal europeans use Liters per 100km calculation figure ;)
