Geneva 2009: Euro-spec Tata Nano (it's bigger!) and all-electric Indica

As we reported, Tata has an Euro-spec Nano on the works. The changes from the Indian version include adding an all-aluminium I3 MPFI engine with a 5-speed automatic transmission and electric power steering. The engine should address all the concerns about Tata's green credentials, as it will be Euro V compliant and have emissions under the 100 g/km of CO2 mark. The Nano Europa will also include significant security equipment like ABS, ESP (Electronic Stability Program) and airbags. There's also a change in size, as the Nano Europa has a slightly longer wheelbase of 2.28 meters. Tata's all-electric Indica, which was also shown during the SIAM Expo, uses polymer lithium batteries that are expected to offer a range of 200 km (120 mi) and a 0-to-60 km/h (0 to 40 mph) time of less than 10 seconds. The model was adapted by Miljo Grenland/Innovasjon of Norway, where Tata UK's owns 70 percent of the shares. Tata will also include a third model, called Prima, in its future European lineup.

"... and how many have been sold in India thus far?"
Car sales are public record all over the world. Isn't there a site where those statistics are presented neatly broken into make, model, year and month country by country, continent by continent for those who thrive on numbers?
I'm specially interested on BYD F3 DM sales in China since it's introduction last December but those figures most definitely are a military state secret since they are nowhere to be found or the car just simply does not exist in real life.

Ohgod, I want one! This will for sure be on my "next car" -list. Depending on lots of stuff of course. But basically a cheaper four door Smart would be perfect.

The idiot who wrote this article said the car is 2.28 meters longer, therefore the car is over 7 feet longer than the Indian version? He also wrote, "As we reported, Tata has an Euro-spec Nano on the works." The word "an" doesn't belong in front of "Euro." It should be "a." We don't pronounce it "e-you-ro," it is "you-ro."

This is great news for Tata Motors, as well as for those whose incomes didn\'t allow for their own car in the past. The Nano is going to make a big difference in the lives of a lot of people, not only for the freedom of movement, but also in increasing the potential for additional commerce (taxis, hauling products longer distances, etc.).
I read a great article about the Nano, though it is actually part of a series of articles. The latest one is titled \"Tata Releases the Nano, No Thanks to Mamata Banerjee\" and it is found at http://economicefficiency.blogspot.com/2009/03/tata-releases-nano-no-thanks-to-mamata.html
Apparently, the politics behind building this car is out of this world.
