Mahindra updates Scorpio SUV, adds micro hybrid variant
Mahindra has been in the news these last few years due mostly to its plans to bring small, efficient diesel-powered trucks to the large United States market. The Indian automaker is also said to be considering bringing its SUVs to America, assuming that its initial pickup truck launch, which is being handled by importer Global Vehicles, goes according to plan. We'll find out when the trucks start to arrive before the end of the year.
Mahindra has just launched a newly revised version of the popular Scorpio SUV in its home market, and the new model uses the first application of the new 2.2L mHawk diesel engine that's planned for the U.S. models. Additionally, Mahindra has added a "micro hybrid" system to the truck, which we assume means stop/start capability. So equipped, the Scorpio meets India's Bharat Stage IV emissions requirements a full year early.
In a surprise move, the new Scorpio from Mahindra actually costs less than the model it replaces by about $1,300.

Reminds me of an old Montero. I would buy one... if I were in the SUV market, that is.

Want a 3-row-seating, diesel-powered alternative to our RAV/4.
I doubt the quality will be up to what we're used to... though I say that with no evidence to back it up.
Regardless, I'm interested =)
