Mercedes-Benz testing Citaro FuelCELL hybrid bus
Now, the oil-burning powerplant is once again going away completely as Mercedes-Benz has started testing Citaro buses with hydrogen fuel cells. Daimler points to the complete lack of emissions as one reason to choose a hydrogen fuel cell in lieu of an internal combustion engine to keep the batteries topped up. This new Citaro FuelCELL hybrid bus will be officially debuted in June at the UITP World Congress and Mobility & City Transport Exhibition in Vienna.

Sorry, I'm not impressed, and impressing the mind numbed green sheep has to be the motive, because the technology is expensive squared.

Sounds like Daimler is looking to pick up some more government grant money. Doesn't have to be practical, just use that magic keyword "Hydrogen", and the funds come rolling in.
Of course, sooner or later even government hacks are going to finally realize how bad an automotive fuel H2 really is, and pull the plug, so to speak. Then they'll move on to the next new buzzword...
