Maserati goes green with a carbon-fiber two wheeler

Maserati hasn't expressed much interest in improving the fuel economy of its road cars, although that will undoubtedly come in the next few years. In the meantime, those with a hankering for a Maserati-badged vehicle but without the budget for one have a new option. Italian bicycle manufacturer Milani is teaming up with Maserati to produce some high end two-wheelers. The bikes are made of a mix of carbon fiber, aluminum and steel and will be offered in touring or racing styles.
The bikes will be made available world wide through both Milani bike retailers and Maserati dealerships. While these are inexpensive compared to a Maserati car (a new one at least) they certainly aren't cheap. If you want a Maserati bike, it's going to run you somewhere between €3,000 ($3,870) to €6,000 ($7,741). Thanks to Yogesh for the tip!

One wonders why sundry auto firms are slapping their names on otherwise entirely unremarkable high-end bicycles. Seems a lot of trouble for a little free ink and some minor eco-cred polishing. Most of these efforts have been entirely redundant and infinitesimally important to the overall cycling market so just what do they think they are getting for their money? Very few serious cyclists will be sufficiently impressed by these pointless branding exercises to plunk down seven large for equipment of a quality that can be had for far less in the conventional cycling marketplace. These high-buck rides are little more than brand associative bling for preening wannabees.

I don't understabd either, the market of CF high-end bike is already crowded by names like Cannondale, Look, Trek, Scott, Eddy Merckz, Giant, Pinarello, Cervelo, Cyfac and many others. So what does Maseratti want to prove here ? cyclism enthusiasm don't give a shit about Maseratti, they won't buy that bike.
