Twitter Embargo Leak: 2010 GMC Terrain to manage 30 mpg highway

In what may be the first recorded instance of an embargo break in Twitter's short but influential history, General Motors has mistakenly Tweeted a few salient details about the upcoming GMC Terrain, the embargo of which won't be up until April 5, 2009. Regardless of how the information got out there, the important bit is that the 2010 GMC Terrain will seat 5 adults and deliver 30 miles per gallon on the highway, and that's pretty good mileage for a midsize crossover that can seat your entire brood.
We can't say what powertrain is able to manage that figure, but a quick check of the Terrain's competition reveals that the only vehicles that beat 30 mpg on the highway are the Ford Escape Hybrid and Saturn Vue Hybrid. GM has been saying the same thing about the Chevy Equinox, so it's probably a similar setup to that.

The current Equinox is rated 24 mpg highway.
Add a 6 speed trans, DI engine, shave 200 lbs, and some aero tweaks and you'll get 30.

Well at least GM is finally getting with MPG bandwagon. After all if they want to sell large trucks and make a bunch of money they need to meet those CAFE standards first since those trucks really stink with mpg.
That 30 mpg is achieved with a 4 cylinder. Not bad, who needs to tow really since these vehicles are used more for minivan like shuttling to and from school and a grocery store.

Yes, because the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4 get 50 MPG because only the Japanese know how to make a fuel efficient vehicles.
