Imperial College of London to enter TTXGP

A member of the Imperial College of London's TTXGP Team wrote in to let us know about the school's entry into the upcoming zero-emissions motorcycle race at the Isle of Man. At this point, details remain scarce about the vehicle, but the renderings appear to be based on the chassis and bodywork of a 2008 Suzuki Hayabusa. If that's the case, the underpinnings should have little problem dealing with the electric motor's 50 horsepower, which the team believes will be sufficient to accelerate their bike to 60 miles per hour in about 4 seconds. Top speed will be set at 100 mph.

We don't have any specifics about the bike's battery other than the fact that it's sourced from Valence, makers of large-scale lithium phosphate power units and that it's large enough to support a range of 150 miles at 40 mph. The battery maker is helping sponsor Imperial's entrance into the TTXGP, and the team is currently looking for additional sponsorship.
