PRESS RELEASE:
Mitsubishi signs MoU with the City of Vancouver regarding testing of i MiEV electric vehicle
Tokyo, April 7, 2009 - Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) subsidiary Mitsubishi Motors Sales of Canada (MMSCAN) yesterday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of British Colombia, the City of Vancouver, power company BC Hydro, and Mitsubishi Canada Limited for feasibility testing of the zero-emissions i MiEV*1 electric vehicle.
Under the terms of the agreement, one car would be added to BC Hydro's fleet of vehicles and one to the City of Vancouver's fleet for demonstration and evaluation purposes. The agreement also allows for the addition of more cars as they become available.
"Electric cars are part of the sustainable transportation solution for British Columbia and I am pleased that the i MiEV will make its Canadian debut in Vancouver," said Environment Minister Barry Penner. "By looking at new, innovative technologies, we can work toward achieving our goal of reducing greenhouse gas emission by 33 per cent by 2020."
"I'm thrilled that Vancouver gets to debut the i MiEV," said Mayor Gregor Robertson. "We want to make Vancouver the greenest city in the world, and supporting this early adoption of plug-in electric cars is one way that Vancouver is becoming a leader in green technology. Electric vehicles are an important way to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions when combined with improvements to transit, biking and walking."
Announced in October 2006, the i MiEV represents the pinnacle of Mitsubishi Motors' green technologies. Currently involved in testing and promotional activities in Japan, New Zealand, Australia, the United States and across Europe, the i MiEV will be launched in Japan during the summer of 2009.

This is a great car, I just hope they can sell it for less than 20000 dollars.

I said and i repeat to stop these stupid subsidies and sell these cars to normal paying car customers and then we will ask after a while if the new owner is satisfied and how far and are fast and how confortably or how sporty is his or her ride so we will have a normal rendition available for free to read or listen via internet. Is that clear ?? Stop communism adopted and proposed by all peoples except me, especially since 11 sept 2001 where peoples have tried to argue jesus and st-pierre that make live the world for real by setting the clocks of everyone to 0 2009 years ago. The clocks are set to 2009 now and the water car was asked more then 2009 years ago by mosus, so stick with the original prayers and stop messing with biology. It's easy to see that almost nobody is able to use his personnal brain and speak his name, so adopt the water powered car and that's it. Maybe you will learn biology by living it instead of listening prayers of somebody else and talking with death proposers of all kind.

What?
Can you please clarify your points, or have someone who speaks English help you?
I honestly can't understand 75% of what you wrote.

Sam,
I don't know if you have any influence, but do you think could suggest a color scheme option other than 2-toned? Beyond that, this car is higher on my list than any other's (unless the Think gets built in Ypsi)

The color scheme is great for the promotional prototypes, but I imagine that when it goes on commercial sale, there will be a choice of colors, and a "2 tone" color scheme, if available, will be optional.

minor correction: the the local utility is BC Hydro

FYI, that's BC Hydro, not British Petroleum Hydro. I doubt BP would be in the least bit interested in selling electricity, nevermind Hydroelectricity in Canada.
Also, Gorr: What the hell are you talking about? Whatever it is, you sound like a screaming lunatic.

Oh, Gorr is our local ranting nutter, and that is an average post from him. Sometimes, he makes short posts that almost makes sense, other times he posts longer and even more incoherent rants! His obsessions are with water fueled cars with onboard electrolysis and green algae fuel, but he refuses to understand that "water fueled only" cars can't possibly work, and that green algae, while promising as a biofuel source, isn't quite ready for market.
It is one of those obscure internet laws, every successful blog with open posting must have at least one raving nutter!

I really enjoyed your video when I saw it last week: good job! Your comments on both the Fiat and the iMiEV were very enlightening. Too bad the right-hand Japanese turn signals proved so tricky: I would make the same mistake, I'm sure!
Now that you've had some time to ponder your experience, we'd love to hear more about your impressions of the iMiEV. Many of us are drooling to buy this EV, and thus appreciate any feedback we can gather. EVNut posted a good report (also with video) just a couple of weeks ago, in case you haven't seen it: http://www.evnut.com/iMiEV.html.
