evstores wants to build electric cars in London
Recently, we reported that London based purveyor of battery powered vehicles, evstores had started to offer the MyCar low speed electric city car. At the UkAware green lifestyle show, the retailer announced that it had launched a feasibility study to consider the possibility of building electric cars in London. The mayor of London, Boris Johnson, has called for developing a low carbon economy and evstores is stepping up to the plate. According to Julian Wolford of evstores, assembly of electric vehicles could be going by the end of next year.

Electric car manufacturing to come to London
evstores today announced at Britain's biggest green consumer lifestyle show, UK Aware (www.ukaware.com) that they have commenced feasibility studies to bring electric car manufacturing to London. The first production vehicles could be rolling off the assembly line before the end of 2010.
Responding to the calls from both the Prime Minister and London Mayor Boris Johnson to develp a 'low carbon' economy in the UK, evstores is now working with partners to bring the final assembly of a lightweight all-electric city car to London.
Says Julian Wilford: 'it makes a lot of sense to assemble electric cars where they are sold and of course London is already a leading market for electric city cars. With the encouragement and vision of Boris Johnson we think that manufacturing in London may be a real opportunity. It will create much needed jobs and build new 'green' capabilities ahead of the Olympics in 2012.'
Electric vehicle assembly is a clean and efficient process without the large infrastructure, machinery or hazardous material handling associated with conventional car production. A number of London sites are under consideration for the creation of a carbon neural vehicle assembly facility.
evstores sell a range of electric vehicles includes the MyCar city car, voted electric car of the year. The MyCar is already on sale in London and will soon be available elsewhere in the UK.
